Homeopathy is a practice of medicine that uses natural elements to create medicines that can help the body to fight diseases. This field of medicine is two centuries old and has grown to encompass various ailments both chronic and acute in nature. Homeopathic medicine has gained major traction in recent years as people move away from highly concentrated chemical medicine. Homeopathic medicine is based on certain principles that differentiate it from other methods of cure. There are five major principles of Homeopathy.
Law of Similia
Homeopathy is based on the law, “Similia Similibus curentur” which means like cures like. Thus, Homeopathy is the therapeutic method of symptom similarity. This means that the cure comes from the disease itself. Unlike allopathy where elements opposite to the condition are used, homeopathy uses elements similar to the disease in dilute dosages to strengthen the body. This helps the body to develop an immune response.
Law of Simplex
The Law of Simplex in Homeopathy states that only one medicine should be used at a time. This is because it helps homeopaths assess the effects of a particular medicine in curing the condition. When treated with more than one medicine at a time it could create ambiguity regarding the effects of the medicine.
Law of Minimum
Homeopathy states that only a minimum dose should be prescribed to the patient to avoid the aggravation of the disease. The minimal dosage also eliminates the risk of organ damage. The benefit of low dosage is that it helps doctors to observe the effects on the disease without any risk.
The doctrine of Drug Proving
According to this doctrine, the prescribed medicine must be properly proven on healthy human beings. Drug proving is a mathematical-mechanical process by which one can investigate the pathogenetic power of the drug upon a healthy human being.
Drug proving must be on Healthy human beings because animals don’t give subjective or mental symptoms. The effects of the same drug on humans and animals are different.
The doctrine of Drug Dynamization
Homeopathic Drug Dynamization is a series of processes by which the medicinal properties which are present in natural substances while in their crude state are hidden become awakened and developed to activate to an incredible degree. This means that the potential of the medical substances is unlocked by this process making them ready to create medicine.
